Stop Comparing Yourself to Others – Fitness Trick & Tip #10
This seems easy, right? Stop comparing yourself to others. So why do so many of us struggle with it?
Whether you just started your fitness journey or you’ve trained for years, you can easily fall into the trap of comparing yourself to someone else. You look at how much weight someone lifts, how fast they run, how they train, or how their body looks—and suddenly you start questioning your own progress.
That comparison rarely helps you.
You don’t know someone else’s goals, training history, genetics, nutrition, lifestyle, motivation, or struggles. You know your own goals, what motivates you, and where you need to improve. Put your energy there.
Focus on Your Own Fitness Progress
One of the best pieces of fitness advice I can give you is simple: Focus on yourself.
Focus on your workouts and on your nutrition. Focus on your programming, and on your effort. Do the things that move you closer to your goals.
You can’t control what someone else does. You can control how consistently you train, what you eat, how hard you work, how well you recover, and whether you follow through on the commitments you make to yourself.
Instead of looking around and asking how you compare to everyone else, ask yourself a better question:
What can I improve today?
Find the answer. Then go work on it.
You’ll accomplish a hell of a lot more by improving yourself than you ever will by comparing yourself to someone else.
Conclusion
Stop worrying about how you measure up to everyone else. Focus on your goals, your effort, and your progress.
