Don’t Forget To Stretch – Fitness Trick & Tip #8
If you are over 40 stretching and mobility exercises are especially vital, but the sad reality is that many of us are just not flexible enough. Why? We don’t take the time to stretch. This can lead to increased risk of injury, and as life goes on it only gets worse, and yet, can keep you from doing some of your favorite activities. Be sure to stretch daily, if not daily, get into the habit on a regular basis!
“Stretch” Your Routine
You can do stretching as part of your workout routine or as part of your cool-down after your workout. Yoga is also a great way to add variety to your fitness routine.
Put In Time and Effort
Remember, you get out of it what you put into it. That means if you only stretch for a few minutes a day your results are going to be minimal. Spend some quality time each week working on your flexibility and mobility. Stretching after your workout and at the end of the day is a great way to put in that quality time!
Stretching and Mobility Will Keep You Moving Well
Strength and conditioning matter, but so does your ability to move well through a full, comfortable range of motion. Give stretching and mobility the same consistency you give the rest of your training. A few intentional sessions each week can add up over time.
