Focus on your sleep – Fitness Trick & Tip #1
It seems like a simple “no brainer” but let me tell ya, this is way more complicated that it seems. Why is it so dang hard to just get a good amount of sleep each night? And, If I knew the answer to that I would be a billionaire!
Everyone is a little different.
Some need 8 hours, some only 6 hours. I need about 6 to 6.5 hours regularly.
And…”sleeping in” is not all its cracked up to be either! Don’t underestimate the impact of lack of sleep.
Sleep = Recovery
Not only will your workout performance suffer, but your ‘life performance’ will suffer too! Whether you are a world class athlete, or a couch potato with a nice career, your body needs to recover, repair, and re-group for the next day or week!
Poor Recovery = Poor Diet = Poor Performance
Those not getting the proper amount of “Recovery” will crave more sugar the next day too! Ouch! That’s not good if you’re trying to lose weight.
Many common tips to fall asleep are turn off the laptop/tablet/phone! Leave them in a totally different room too! Listen to soft music or something softly, but not on TV or with the TV on. The LED light will keep you awake and you wont get “good sleep” with it on anyway. Also, try to get on a schedule. Go to bed at about the same time each night. Same goes with waking up at the same time each day, even weekends!
Put some effort into sleeping properly, it will be the best thing you can do for yourself!
It takes little to NO talent to get a proper amount of sleep each night (or most nights anyway), however, it does take discipline and consistency!
If you are someone who just cannot sleep for whatever reason, I highly recommend you to put effort into figuring out why you cant sleep! This is when your body recovers and your muscles and body repairs and grows! Figure it out ASAP!
